Abstract
Our world is changing rapidly. As our technology and economy have been growing rapidly, we are in great need of the improvements in the educational system as well as in the mathematical knowledge and scientific techniques.We can find good suggestions from studying the curriculums of Japan. Japan is located close to Korea and has similar educational circumstances. In these respects, we could find some effective ideas for our changes from it.The objective of this study is to compare and analyze the new mathematics curriculum revisions of the middle schools of two countries. To do so, I use the following five factors.ⅰ) the definition of the curriculumsⅱ) the change of the mathematics curriculumsⅲ) the background of the revision of the mathematics curriculumsⅳ) the goal and the character of the mathematicsⅴ) the contents of the mathematics curriculumsThrough it, we can find some alternative suggestions to improve the mathematics curriculums of Korea considering the international change.
