Abstract
With the advent of an aging society, the weight of aging research has increased, and COVID-19 also has the issue of growing severity risk in the elderly. Aging is an inevitable part of the scenario of life from birth to death. However, generally, it is said that aging is not a disease but a risk factor. To understand the basic mechanisms of aging, coping with the various granularities of living organisms from the cellular to the organism level is necessary. This study aims for knowledge modeling focusing on the cellular senescence process based on an ontology engineering approach. We first report on organizing this diverse knowledge of cellular senescence using Homeostasis Imbalance Process ontology (HOIP). Next, concerning COVID-19 severity, we present the result of ontology reasoning of causal inferences across COVID-19, type 2 diabetes, and cellular senescence about COVID-19 severity. Finally, we show the visualization of the knowledge about cellular senescence mechanisms based on ontology.
