Abstract
This study investigated if search dates of webtoon consumer and posting dates of webtoon providers in a week affects the total subscription number of webtoons. Traditionally, ‘Weekend Effect’ is well known in the stock market where the gap between the timing of information release and timing of stock purchase affects stock price. Following the logic of Weekend Effect, we examined if this ‘Friday and Monday Effect’ exists in the webtoon market. Based on the data of 116 commercial webtoons at Naver Webtoon Service, we found Friday and Monday effect exists even after controlling type, genre and popularity of webtoons.
