Abstract
The article presents the discussion on gout becoming a more widespread type of chronic inflammatory arthritis. Topics include uric acid which being a natural product such as the metabolic breakdown of purine nucleotides either from endogenous or dietary sources; leading to acute episodes of joint inflammation and kidney stones; and inflammatory cascade leading to the release of various inflammatory cytokines, chemotactic factors, and lysosomal enzymes.
