Abstract
It is well known from animal experiments that manipulation with hypothalamic structures may lead to disturbances in appetite regulation and hence to a rapid increase in body weight. The underlying mechanisms have only been partly clarified. We describe a patient who doubled her body weight within 4 months following hypothalamic injury probably caused by a pituitary apoplexy.
