Abstract
A Y-source dc–dc converter (YSC) with zero input current ripple and extended zero-voltage switching (ZVS) range is proposed in this article. Blocking capacitors block the dc current through the three-terminal coupling inductor (TTCI), ensuring zero bias in the magnetic core. The capacitors clamp all switches and diodes, effectively preventing voltage oscillations. Operating all switches at ZVS minimizes switching losses and electromagnetic noise. Furthermore, an additional branch is introduced to ensure zero input current ripple and reduce the current through the input inductor at the main switch’s turn-on time, thereby extending the ZVS range. This article elucidates the working modes in depth, builds the equivalent model of the TTCI to demonstrate the effect of magnetizing inductance on voltage gain, and studies the conditions for ZVS operation across the entire power range. Finally, an experimental prototype rated at 320 V and 200 W is constructed to validate the theoretical analysis.
