Abstract
The Department of Nursing of Cincinnati (Ohio) General Hospital, the major teaching hospital of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, recently implemented a career ladder program designed to assist in solving some of its nursing care problems. The program combines on-the-job training, paid tuition to local schools of nursing and tutoring to provide career mobility tor employees. It also abolishes the dead-end aspects of all jobs in the department.
