Abstract
REPORT OF A CASE A 70-year-old man presented with an enlarging lesion of the palm of 1 month's duration. He had no systemic complaints. Two years previously he had been treated for adenocarcinoma of the prostate with local radiation and pelvic node dissection. There was no evidence of recurrence.Physical examination revealed a 1.5-cm, firm, tender, bluish, subcutaneous nodule on the hypothenar aspect of the right palm (Fig 1). The remainder of the skin and the oral mucosa were normal. There was no adenopathy. Complete blood cell count, electrolyte levels, liver function test results, and acid phosphatase levels were within normal limits, except for an aspartate aminotransferase level of 64 U/L (nor mal, 7 to 40 U/L). Chest roentgenography showed a density in the right lung field.A biopsy specimen of the palmar lesion revealed aggregates of squamous epithelial cells in the dermis (Figs 2 and 3).What is your
