Abstract
Staying put is an implicit condition in many of the communities that attract the attention of folklorists. We pay scant attention, however, to the creative and culturally inflected economic means that make this condition possible. In this article, I examine wealth management strategies rural West Virginia residents use to sustain their lifestyles and their families in the place they call home.
