이 연구는 미래의 창조적 리더가 될 학생들이 토론 교육을 통해 토론 능력이 향상되면서 리더십도 강화될 것이라고 보고, 토론 교육이 리더십 생활기술에 어떻게 영향을 끼치는지를 실증적으로 살펴보았다. 연구자가 재직하고 있는 대학의 교양과목에서 ‘토론과 대화기법’ 과목을 수강한 학생을 대상으로 수강전후의 설문을 Excel 프로그램을 이용하여 학생들의 일반적 특성을 백분율로 나타내고 리더십 생활기술의 하위영역별 평균값을 산출해 비교분석하였다. 연구결과 학생들의 리더십 생활기술 하위영역 가운데 자기이해기술, 의사소통기술, 의사결정기술 영역이 높게 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 개인별 특성에 따른 리더십 생활기술의 차이를 비교해 본 결과 성별에서는 여자가 남자에 비해 사전의 리더십 생활기술 평균값이 학습능력기술을 제외하고 모두 높았으며 사후 대부분 향상되었으나 학습능력기술과 인간관계기술에서는 일치하지 않았다. 학년에서는 자기이해기술, 의사소통기술, 의사결정기술 3가지 영역에서 학년과 상관없이 높아졌다. 학업성취도에서는 학업성취도가 상인 학생이 학업성취도가 중과 하인 학생들보다 높았지만, 사후 변화한 평균값에서는 일관되지 않았다. 교우관계에서는 리더인 학생들이 높게 나타났으나 팀원인 학생들의 의사소통기술의 평균값이 높게 변화하였다. 조사대상에서 대학생활 환경에 따른 개인의 내적 변화와 대학교육과정에서 이루어지는 여러 변인에 대한 것은 배제하였다. 앞으로 토론 강의에 참여한 집단과 참여하지 않은 집단 간의 비교연구와 개인의 특성에 따른 변인을 보다 세분화, 다양화 하는 등의 심층적인 연구가 필요하다고 보고 계속 연구해 나갈 계획이다.
The Debate Education is an effective method of honing mature civic awareness and leadership at the same time. This study mainly focused on the hypothesis that the improvement of debate education contribute to leadership and how debate education empirically influence on the leadership life skills. The survey was conducted in one of classes, the researcher is attending, an elective course, ‘Debate and Communication skills’. The questionnaire before and after class was demonstrated with Excel and general characteristic was converted into percentage. The skills of leadership’s comparative analysis was calculated based on the average of low rank parts. The summary of the survey is below. 1. Among the students leadership components, self-understanding, communication skills, decision making skills were improved. 2. The average leadership skills in females is higher than in males except learning ability. Almost all parts performed improvement except learning abilities and human relationship. 3. Self-understanding, communication skills, decision making skills were improved in a grade. 4. In an academic achievement, the average of the searched parts for A students performed better than B, and C students. However, the average of after class was not reliable. 5. Leaders showed higher results in a relationship, the average of teammates’ communication skills showed higher. The exception was variables of changing of University education system, and personal inner change. This study requires detailed categories and discussion in depth.
