Abstract
Chinese, 19th century, male. Active from 1800. Born 1771. Painter. Sheng Dashi was an official, poet and painter who wrote a two-volume treatise on aesthetics entitled Qishan Woyou Lu, which appeared in 1822. Typically of the writings of literati painters from the period, it was a rather shapeless collection of the most varied pieces lacking in both intellectual rigour and organisation.
