Abstract
chapter provides an overview of services for and research on psychotic disorders in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), South Africa. KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) is the second largest province in South Africa with a population of 11.1 million of which 35% are under 15 years of age (Stats SA, 2016). It is diverse, ethnically and religiously. This chapter briefly sketches the current service and research landscape for psychoses in a province in South Africa. There are several important research studies that shed—or promise to shed—light on various aspects of psychoses in a setting characterized by a high prevalence of risks. It provides a roadmap for potential future research.
