Abstract
According to recent research, nearly a quarter of young adults have experienced some form of sexual abuse during their childhood, including contact and non-contact activities. Contact sexual abuse may include sexual touching as well as penetrative sex. This chapter will cover dealing with acute and historical sexual assault, as well as dispelling myths surrounding anogenital examination. Common presentations such as straddle injuries and vaginal discharge will also be discussed, including the importance of not missing signs that may signal sexual abuse.
