Abstract
The ability to reinterpret the existing typical and universal concepts, the first language, and convert them into own original concept, the second language, is an important quality for the expression of creativity. The purpose of this study is to explore the legitimacy of the way of thinking for realizing creativity by proposing a process that helps students studying design to create the second language. As a research method, the way of analyzing the possibility as the new way of thinking is taken through the progress of case study in design education. In order to express that the educational method for cultivating the ability to create the second language can be a meaningful methodology for students' in-depth thinking process, the application of two methods, such as the metaphorical way of thinking and the way of thinking by reinterpreting the opposite concept, are proposed. The second language provided an opportunity to derive original results by giving motivation and inspiration to lead to a design concept. In the follow-up task, the design output based on the first language and the relative quantitative index for the design output based on the second language are verified to secure trust as the way of thinking. Individual creativity can be effectively exhibited when connected with the act of reinterpretation. Therefore, it is expected that the direction of this study in the future will contribute to the cultivation of students' differentiated thinking.
