Abstract
Spiderwebs have been evolved as foraging tools as well as resting places for spiders, despite the effects of uncertain environmental and physical factors , with high stability of their structure. Such the high stability of spiderweb structure could be caused from geometrical proper ties of 3-dimensional structure of spiderwebs as well as the elasticity and resilience of each silk. Thus, in this study we described three dimensional structures of various orbwebs, especially focusing on orbwebs of an orbweb spider species, Nephila clavata, as well as those of non-orbwebs like Agelena limbata webs. The results will contribute to understanding geometrical and physical properties of three-dimensional web structure and developing mode is for characterizing the web shape. We believe that ultimately the geometric analysis and models will contribute to structural design of architectures in places which are dominate d by uncertain environments like often- disaster places and space.
