이 연구는 한국불교의 현 주소를 살펴보고 불교를 문화적 측면에서 접근하려는 MZ세대의 특징과 더불어 믿는 종교를 굳이 밝히지 않거나 종교인임을 감추려는 성향을 보이는 종교관을 살펴보았다. 그리고 통계자료 분석을 통하여 종교인 분포에 있어서 불교가 가장 취약하게 나타나고 있는 연령과 직업별 특징에 비추어 상월결사의 대학생 전법·교화를 통한 한국불교의 중흥 모색은 그 해법과 타당성에서 모두 적절하고 합리적인 판단에 기초하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 나아가 대학생 전법을 위한 한국불교의 SWOT 분석에서는 종교의 권위와 영향력이 감소한 종교환경과 아직 구체적이고 전문적인 포교 인력과 프로그램이 준비되지 않은 상태임에도 불구하고, 문화중심의 불교대중화를 확산하고 템플스테이와 명상프로그램의 확대 등의 방편을 통하여 보다 설득력 있는 접근이 가능할 것으로 분석하고 다양한 방안을 제시하였다.
This study looked at the current address of Korean Buddhism and looked at the characteristics of the MZ generation, who tried to approach Buddhism from a cultural perspective, as well as the view of religion that showed a tendency not to reveal the religion they believed in or to conceal being a religious person. Additionally, statistical data analysis demonstrated that in light of the age and occupational characteristics that Buddhism is most vulnerable to in the distribution of religious people, the search for the revival of Korean Buddhism through the transmission of university students and propagation of Sangwol Gyeolsa is based on appropriate and reasonable judgments both in its solution and validity. Furthermore, the SWOT analysis of Korean Buddhism for college student propagation analyzed that a more convincing approach would be possible through the spread of cultural-oriented Buddhist popularization and the expansion of temple stays and meditation programs, despite the reduced religious environment and the lack of specific and professional missionary personnel and programs.
