우리나라 선사시대 의례를 시대별로 나누어 살펴보았다. 의례의 증거와 양상은 시대별로 각기 다르고, 고고학적 자료의 한계로 말미암아 추정이나 추론의 비중이 높을 수밖에 없었다. 구석기시대는 자료적 한계로 인해 거의 알 수 없는 실정이다. 신석기시대 역시 자료가 부족한 상황이지만, 토테미즘이나 매장과 관련해서는 그 실마리 혹은 흔적을 확인할 수 있었다. 청동기시대는 앞 시대보다 해상도가 훨씬 높아 설비, 장소, 생계, 행위, 복합적인 관점에서 의례를 들여다 볼 수 있었다. 특히 청동기시대에 독립적으로 존재하던 환구의례와 입대목제의가 전통적 결합을 통해 마한 의례로 완성되었을 것이라는 추론을 제시해보았다. 본 글은 의례의 병렬적 설명을 지양하고 체계적인 분류를 위해 장소, 생계, 대상, 행위, 설비와 같은 항목을 설정하여 논지를 전개하였다. 자료적 한계에도 불구하고 용도나 성격을 추정할 수 있을 만한 물적 자료나 복수의 절차 및 과정이 내재되어 있는 복합적 맥락을 면밀하게 찾아낸다면, 의례의 해상도는 더욱 높아질 것으로 기대한다.
Prehistoric rituals in Korea were examined by era. Evidence and aspect of the ritual were different according to the era. And due to the limitations of archaeological data, the weight of inference had to be high. The Paleolithic age is almost unknown due to data limitations. There is also a lack of data from the Neolithic age. However, it could be confirmed to some extent in relation to totemism and burial. Since the Bronze Age had a much higher resolution than previous eras, it was possible to look at the ritual as facilities, places, livelihoods, behaviors, and complex perspectives. In particular, I suggested the inference that the Round Ditch Rituals and the Big Tree Rituals, which existed independently in the Bronze Age, would have been completed as a Mahan rite through a traditional combination. This article developed the arguments by categorizing rituals into places, livelihoods, objects, behaviors, and facilities for systematic classification, avoiding parallel explanations of rituals. Despite the limitations of the data, if we carefully find the material data that can infer the use or character or the complex context composed of various processes, the resolution of the ritual is expected to be higher.
