Abstract
The present study examined the relationship between ambition and organizational behavior among 403 officers and military civilians in the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF). Ambition was found to have a significant positive and direct relationship with organizational citizenship behavior towards the organization (OCBO), but not with unethical pro-organizational behavior (UPB). The effect of ambition on OCBO and UPB was mediated by organizational concern and impression management motives, respectively. The findings suggest that ambition may have different effect on organizational behaviors depending on the underlying motives. Theoretical and practical implications, limitations and directions for future research are discussed.
