대부분의 교원양성기관에서의 현장 연계는 교육실습 과목으로 집중되어 있으며 예비교원들은 대학에서 배운 전문적인 지식들을 교육실습 과목을 통하여 현장에 적용해 보고 있는 실정이다. 또한, 일반 교과목이 현장에서의 적용을 바로 할 수 있도록 구성되어 있는 과목은 찾아보기 어려운 실정이다. 그러나 교사의 실천적 지식을 함양하기 위한 가장 바람직한 방법은 실제적으로 배운 이론을 바로 현장에서 적용해 보는 것이 가장 효과적이라 할 수 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 연구자가 미국 하와이 대학에서 예비음악교사를 위한 이론과 실습이 연계되어 있는 강좌의 참여 및 관찰 결과를 기술하고, 이를 바탕으로 우리나라 예비음악교사 교육에 대한 시사점을 도출하고자 한다. 이를 위해 우선 하와이 대학교의 음악교사 양성 프로그램을 고찰하고, 이론과 현장실습이 연계되어 있는 실제 과목에 대해 살펴보았다. MU354 “일반음악교수법”과 연계된 실습과목인 MU354L “일반음악교수법실습”은 본 연구자가 하와이 대학에서 직접 참관 및 연구자로 참여 했던 과목으로, 과목의 강의개요 및 목적, 강의 내용, 강의 자료, 평가를 중심으로 하여 각 과목에 대한 사례를 제시하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 본 연구에 대한 시사점을 다음과 같이 도출하였다. 첫째, 음악교사의 실천적 역량이 더욱 더 강조되고 있는 현 시기에 예비음악교원의 실천적 역량을 함양할 수 있는 다양한 이론실습 연계교과목의 개발이 필요하다. 둘째, 예비교원양성기관과 지역의 교육기관과의 긴밀한 관계가 형성되어야 한다. 셋째, 음악교원이 되기 위한 자격시험에의 기준과 방법에 있어서의 변화가 요구된다.
The Field-connected class at most teacher training institutions are concentrated as practicum and pre-service teachers are applying professional knowledge learned from universities to the field only through practicum. In addition, it is difficult to find a subject in which general subjects are configured to be applied immediately in the field. However, the most desirable way to cultivate teachers' practical knowledge is to apply the theory learned in the field immediately. Therefore, in this paper, the researcher will describe the participation and observation results of courses linked to theory and practice for pre-service music teachers at the University of Hawaii, USA, and draw implications for Korea's preliminary music teacher education. For this, first of all, the music teacher training program at the University of Hawaii was reviewed, and the actual subjects linked to theory and field practice were examined. MU354 and MU354L are subjects that this researcher directly attended and participated as researchers at the University of Hawaii, and examples of each subject were presented, focusing on the lecture outline and purpose of the subject, lecture content, lecture data, and evaluation, and based on this, the implications for this study were derived as follows. First, it is necessary to develop various theoretical practice-linked subjects that can cultivate the practical competencies of preliminary music teachers at a time when the practical competencies of music teachers are more and more emphasized. Second, a close relationship between preliminary teacher training institutions and local educational institutions should be formed. Third, changes in standards and methods for qualification tests to become music teachers are needed.
