이 논문의 연구목적은 한국교회에서 종말론적인 교훈을 찾기 위해서 읽혀지고 있는 요한계시록을 역사해석의 책으로서 새롭게 인식할 수 있도록 하는데 있다. 이를 위해서 논자는 요한계시록에 나오는 다양한 환상들을 해석하는 방법 중에서 시대사적인 해석과 신-시학적인 해석을 연구방법으로 적용함으로써 다음과 같은 연구결과를 얻게 되었다. 첫 번째로 요한계시록은 아래와 주변부로부터의 시각에서 현실을 인식하고 있다. 두 번째로 이러한 현실인식의 기반 안에서, 요한계시록은 ‘Pax-Romana’의 통치이념 아래에서 살고있는 자들의 현실을 경제적인 불평등을 심화시키는 착취체제로 해석할 뿐만이 아니라 약자들의 희생 위에 세워진 위장된 평화체제와 잔인하고 사탄적인 지배체제로 인식하고 있다. 세 번째로 요한계시록은 하늘과 땅의 공간적 차원을 시간적 차원과 상호 연계시켜 ‘역사의 현재와 미래’를 해석한다. 결론적으로 본 논문에 제시된 역사해석의 책으로서 요한계시록 읽기는 코로나19 이후 더 심화될 사회적 양극화 현상을 경험할 우리 시대에 요한계시록을 새롭게 해석할 수 있는 가능성을 제시해준다.
The purpose of this article is to recognize the Book of Revelation, which is being read to find eschatological lessons as a book of interpretation of history in the Korean church. For this, I obtained the following research results by applying historical and theo-poetic interpretations as research methods among the methods of interpreting the various visions in the book of Revelation. So I got the following result through this study: First, the Book of Revelation perceives the reality from the point of view from the under and from the periphery. Second, based on this recognition of reality, the Book of Revelation explains that the reality of those who live under the Pax-Romana’s ruling ideology is related to the exploitation system that aggravates economic inequality. In addition, the Book of Revelation interprets the disguised peace system built on the sacrifice of the weak and the cruel and satanic ruling system. Third, the Book of Revelation explains the present and the future of history by interconnecting the spatial dimensions of heaven and earth with the temporal dimensions. In conclusion, Reading the Book of Revelation as a book of historical interpretation presented in this article suggests the possibility of a new interpretation of the Book of Revelation in our era when we will experience the social polarization that will intensify the post COVID-19.
