1990년대 이후 우리 사회는 가족의 위기 혹은 해체 징후를 드러내고 있다. 가족의 위기 상황은 가부장제 가족의 억압 때문에 일어난 것이다. 본고는 가부장제의 기원 이론들을 고찰하고, 가부장제 가족의 기원을 보여주는 소포클레스의 〈 오이디푸스왕 〉과 〈 안티고네 〉를 분석대상으로 삼았다. 그리고 ``오래된 미래``로서의 가족의 변모 양상을 비교 고찰하기 위해 ``오이디푸스 모티프``를 다룬 한국영화 〈 올드보이 〉를 분석 대상으로 삼았다. 인간과 삶을 탐구하는 문학과 연극, 영화 등은 일찍이 가족에 대한 깊이있는 탐구를 보여왔다. 2500년 전의 그리스비극은 소재나 주제에 금기와 제한을 두지 않고 인간경험의 극한치와 고통의 최대치를 묘사했는데, 이때 빈번하게 다루어진 소재가 가족사의 비극이었다. 가장 비극다운 소재로 ``혈육간의 살해``를 취택했다는 사실은 가족이 인간의 원초적 갈등의 장이며 인간의 삶에서 가장 중요한 공간임을 인식한 결과라 볼 수 있다. 〈 오이디푸스왕 〉은 가족의 기원, 다시 말해 가부장제도가 형성될 때 억압했던 두 가지 터부인 부친살해와 근친상간을 다루고 있다. 박찬욱 감독의 〈 올드보이 〉는 흥미롭게도 오이디푸스 서사를 새롭게 변주한다. 〈 오이디푸스왕 〉이 가부장제 가족제도의 윤리를 굳건히 고수하는 가운데 금기를 어긴 인간을 괴물로 규정하고 징벌을 내린다면, 〈 올드보이 〉는 괴물이지만 ``살아갈 권리가 있는``, 사랑을 지속하는 ``탈주하는 오이디푸스``를 그려낸다. 이 영화는 근친상간 금지를 거부함으로써 가부장제 윤리에 도전을 던지고 있다. 가부장제도가 가족 구성원들의 불행과 억압을 가져오는 제도라면 그 근원적 금기부터 의심해 보아야 한다는 문제의식을 내포하고 있는 것이다.
Korean society is experiencing family crisis or even symptom of family break up since nineties. Family crisis situation comes from oppression of patriarchal family. This paper examined original theory of patriarchal system and took Oedipus the King and Antigone of Sophocles as analysis subjects, which show the origin of patriarchal family. And, in order to compare and examine the transfiguration of family as "old future", we took Korean movie Old Boy, which dealt with "Oedipus motif", as another analysis subject. Literature, drama and movie, explore human and life. They have been exploring family in depth since early. Greek tragedy 2,500 years ago did not have any taboo or limitation on the subject or theme. It described the ultimatum of human experience and pain to maximum degree. Family tragedy was most frequent material for Greek tragedy. We can see the fact that "murder among family" had been selected as most tragic material was the result of recognition where family is space for basic human conflict and most important space in human life. Oedipus the King deals with murder of father and incest, which are two oppressed taboo`s in the origin of family, when the patriarchal system had been formed. Old Boy by director Park Chan-Wook plays a variation of Oedipus narration in interesting way. When Oedipus the King firmly adhered to the ethics of patriarchal system, defined human who had broken the taboo as monster and gave punishment, Old Boy described "escaping Oedipus" who, even he may be monster, he has "right to live on" and continue to love. The movie challenged the ethics of patriarchal system by refusing the prohibition of incest. The movie has the consciousness on the issue that if patriarchal system brings misery and oppression to family members, the original taboo could be questioned first.
