Abstract
본 논문은 피아니스트 겸 작곡가인 프란시스 풀랑(Francis Poulenc)의 예술가곡에 대하여 연구한 것이다. 풀랑은 150여곡의 많은 성악 작품을 남겼는데, 그 중 연가곡 (La courte paille)를 살펴보았다. 먼저 Ⅰ장에서 본 필요성과 연구의 목적, 그리고 연구의 범위와 방법에 대해 언급하였다. Ⅱ장에서는 첫 째로 20세기 초 서양음악의 일반적인 음악환경에 대해 기술 하였고, 둘째로 풀랑의 생애 및 음악적 특징과 가곡의 유형에 대하여 조사 연구하였다. 셋째로는 그의 마지막 연가곡인 (La courte paille)의 7개의 곡 제1곡 ‘Le sommeil(잠)’, 제2곡 ‘Quelle aventure!(어떤 모험!)’, 제3곡 ‘La reine de cœur(마음의 여왕)’, 제4곡 ‘Ba, Be, Bi, Bo, Bu(바, 베, 비, 보, 부)’, 제5곡 ‘Les anges musiciens(음악의 천사들)’, 제6곡 ‘Le carafon(아기 유리병)’, 제7곡 ‘Lune d’Avril(4월의 달)’을 간단한 시의 내용과 더불어 곡 전체의 ‘형식과 구조’ 그리고 ‘연주를 위한 해석’을 연구하였다. Ⅲ 장에서는 위의 연구를 통하여 다음과 같은 결론들을 도출하였다. 풀랑은 성악곡 위주의 작품 활동을 하여 시(時)와 음악의 표현을 신비스럽고 사랑스럽게 결합시키는 것에 탁월하였다. 그는 시의 내용을 완벽하게 이해하는 것을 중요하게 생각하였고, 다양한 화성, 반복적인 선율과 리듬을 지향하는 음악을 자신만의 독특한 스타일로 작곡하였음을 알 수 있었다.
This dissertation is study about artistic song of Francis Poulenc, a pianist and composer. Poulenc composed many vocal works, some 150 pieces. This dissertation studies song cycle (La courte paille) out of them.To begin with, the purpose, range & method of this study is mentioned in Chapter Ⅰ. In Chapter Ⅱ, first, the general musical environment of Western music at the beginning of the 20th century is described. Second, the life, musical characteristics & song type of Poulenc is investigated. Third, the 7 pieces of his last song cycle (La courte paille), the 1st piece ‘Le sommeill(Sleep)’, the 2nd piece ‘Quelle aventure!(Certain adventure!)’, the 3rd piece ‘La reine de cœur(Queen of heart)’, the 4th piece ‘Ba, Be, Bi, Bo, Bu(Ba, Be, Bi, Bo, Bu)’, the 5th piece ‘Les anges musicien(Angels of musics)’, the 6th piece ‘Le carafon(Baby glass bottle)’, the 7th piece ‘Lune d’Avril(Moon of April)’ are studied with contents of simple poem, ‘form & structure of whole piece’ & ‘interpretation for performance.’ I drew the following conclusion through the above study.Poulenc was distinguished in mysteriously & adorably combine poem & musical expression as his work activity was mainly based on vocal pieces. It is found that he emphasized perfect comprehension of poem contents and composed music which pursued diverse harmony, repetitious melody & rhythm in his own peculiar style.(La Courte Paille) is composed of 7 short songs which strongly reflect succinct & simple musical characteristics of Poulenc. It is found that these 7 pieces heightened the connectivity of poem & melody by repetitiously using short thematic melody & simple rhythmic form. This work leads effect which induces interest through contrastive theme, contrastive tempo of piece & piece and change of atmosphere with feeling as if reading fairy tale books. Particularly, many directives appear like his other songs. They direct contrast of theme and player’s posture to pieces. Whenever finding the trace of directives to deliver lyrics in fast pieces, I could find his sensitive & delicate characteristics. I expect this study to help many players understanding and expressing piece through musical characteristics and affection for poem and interpretation for performance of Poulenc who is evaluated as a significant person for the development of French artistic song, melody (Mélodie).
