Abstract
미술, 음악, 공연 등 다양한 예술분야에서 관객의 작품참여 문제는 중요한 이슈이다. 본 연구는 관객이 작품참여 과정에서 역할의 순환성을 경험한다는 것에 주목하였다. 그리고 이러한 과정을 본 연구는 역할 전이 모형으로 제안하였다. 역할 전이 모형은 기존의 관객참여 연구와 차별화된 이론적, 형식적 특징을 가진다. 이론적 관점에서 보면, 역할전이 모형은 관람자 이론과 통합이론을 포함하고 있다. 구조적 관점에서 보면, 역할전이 모형은 순환구조를 가진 흐름도의 형식을 가진다. 본 연구에서 관람자 이론은 관객이 경험하는 수동적 역할을 설명하기 위하여 사용되었고, 통합이론은 관객의 능동적 역할과 수동적 역할을 하나의 연속체 상에서 설명하기 위하여 사용되었다. 한편, 흐름도 형식을 가지는 순환구조는 관객이 경험하는 역할의 순환성을 시각화하기 위하여 도입되었다. 본 연구가 제안하는 역할전이 모형은 학문적, 실무적 차원에서 의의를 가진다. 학문적 측면에서 역할전이 모형이 가지는 의의는 관객이 경험하는 순환적인 역할의 전이를 제안하고 이를 도식화하였다는데 있다. 실무적 차원에서 역할 전이모형은 관객 참여 형식의 작품을 기획하거나 운영하려는 예술가와 예술관련 조직들에게 관객의 참여 경험과 과정에 대한 실질적인 함의를 제공한다.
The audience participation has been a big issue in various art fields. The audience role transition model proposed in this study offers an explanation for the facts that the audience has a chance to experience various roles in the process of interaction with the artwork and such roles are circularly repeated. From a theoretical standpoint, the role transition model includes the spectator theory and the integration theory and it, from a structural perspective, has the form of the flow chart that embraces a loop structure. The former theory is used to account for a passive role of the audience, and the latter one is employed to explain an active role and a passive role as one continuum. In addition, the loop structure of the flow chart is introduced to visualize the circularity of the role transition which the audience undergoes. The academic significance of the role transition model results from the facts that it proposes a circular role transition that the audience experiences, and conceptualizes this process. At a practical level, the model provides considerable implications, for the stakeholders who attempt to plan or manage the artwork that has a participation form, about the audience participation experiences and its process.
