The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the word information/readability of English reading text in CSAT and item difficulty. To this end, after collecting the reading passage of the CSAT and mock CSAT from 2014 to 2018, correlation between the index of word information/readability and the correct answer rate were analyzed. The results are as follows. First, a positive correlation was found in personal pronoun, first-person pronoun, third-person singular, third-person plural, and second-person pronouns. Second, there was a positive correlation in the word concreteness, and there was a negative correlation in hypernym for noun and acquisition age. Third, all three readability indices showed a relatively high correlation. Finally, suggestions were made for further research.
본 연구의 목적은 수학능력시험 영어 읽기 문항 지문의 어휘 정보 및 이독성과 문항 난이도 사이의 상관관계를 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 2014학년도에서 2018학년도까지 실행된 수능 및 수능 모의고사의 읽기 지문을 수집한 후, 코메트릭스를 활용해 어휘 정보 및 이독성 관련 지표를 분석하고, 이들과 각 문항의 정답률 사이의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해 얻어진 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 인칭대명사, 3인칭 단수, 1인칭 단수, 3인칭 복수, 2인칭 등 인칭 대명사의 등장 빈도와 정답률 사이에 정적 상관관계가 발견되었다. 둘째, 어휘의 구체성에서는 정적 상관관계, 명사에 대한 상위어 및 습득 나이에서는 부적 상관관계가 나타났다. 셋째, 3가지 이독성 지수 모두 문항 정답률과 0.3 정도의 비교적 높은 상관관계를 보여주었다. 마지막으로 후속연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.
