With the recent revision of the Defense Acquisitions Program Administration directive, the scope of quality assurance work for ships by the Defense Agency for Technology and Quality has expanded from mass production and operation maintenance to research and development. Thus far, the Defense Agency for Technology and Quality has focused on technical support and a review of items in the research and development stage of ship projects in accordance with relevant regulations. However, for future shipbuilding research and development projects, the Defense Agency for Technology and Quality plans to conduct quality assurance activities and issue inspection reports. Accordingly, a study was conducted to analyze the shape control history based on the most constructed isotype ship project to date, derive supplementation and improvement points based on the analyzed data, and analyze the requirement for government quality assurance activities at the development stage. In addition, we summarized matters that must be reviewed and reflected upon when performing quality control in the development stage.
