Este artigo aborda as possíveis evidências de um alojamento de escravizados em uma unidade doméstica urbana, um sobrado edificado na primeira metade do século XIX na antiga Vila da Campanha da Princesa (atual município de Campanha), região Sul de Minas Gerais. Devido à dinâmica de desenvolvimento urbano e a consequente descaracterização de grande parte da arquitetura setecentista e oitocentista nesta localidade, a presença de senzalas nestes contextos citadinos não foram documentadas e estudadas, principalmente devido aos novos usos que estas edificações receberam com o passar do tempo. Aliando a investigação documental à pesquisa arqueológica ao atual estado de ruínas que o sobrado se encontra, argumento que a tipología e presença destes alojamentos em meio ao quintal da propriedade pode ter remetido a melhores oportunidades de circulação, como de resistência ao claustro pela via de práticas mais autónomas de subsistência e de transmissão cultural. This article discusses the possible evidence of an slave's acommodation in an urban domestic unit, a mansion built in the first half of the 19th century in the formerVila de Campanha da Princesa (actual municipality of Campanha), in the Southern region of Minas Gerais. Due the dynamics of urban development and the consequent mischaracterization of much of the 18th and 19th century architecture in this location, the slave quarters in these city contexts has not been documented and studied, mainly due to the new uses that are being received overtime. Combining documentary investigation with archaeological research to the current situation of ruins of the house, I argue that the tipology and presence of these accomodations in the middle of the backyard of the property may have led to better opportunities of circulation for the slaves, as well as resistance to the cloister through more autonomous practices of subsistence and cultural transmission.
