The Second National Mental Health Plan of Australia has been formulated and endorsed by state, territory and Commonwealth governments. It has three major themes: putting quality and outcome measures, evidence-based practice among them, into use; promoting mental health in a way that involves prevention and early intervention for mental disorders, focusing especially on depression; continuing structural reform of mental health services with better integration with the private psychiatric sector and general practice.
