Abstract
Dryland agricultural field systems were an important part of the late prehistoric subsistence economy of the Hawaiian archipelago. A study is conducted to test the hypotheses that the dryland field system in the Kohala island has spread to its maximum extent and has reached its limits of intensification. A geographic information system is used to investigate the spatial impact of environmental factors on agricultural development.
