Abstract
Diadenosine pentaphosphate (AP5A) and diadenosine hexaphosphate (AP6A) in platelets, identified as vassopressures, are involved in the induction of vascular hypertrophy which occurs with hypertension. Chromatography, mass spectrometry, ultraviolet spectroscopy and enzymatic cleavage aid the study of AP5A and AP6A. AP5A and AP6 are also involved in local vasoregulation and in the regulation of blood pressure.
