Abstract
For an empathetic approach in social studies minority education, this study seeks improvement based on a concrete others perspective. Accordingly, by relying on Benhavib’s concrete others perspective, he critically reflected on the generalized perspective of the other included in social studies minority education and sought a direction for improvement. As a result of the analysis, it was revealed that the relationship between the self was not sufficiently contained, that it was difficult to reflect the diversity and specificity of others, that it was difficult to draw an sympathetic response. Accordingly, the direction of improvement of social studies minority education was suggested, and the practice of mutual universalism was proposed as a relational approach, reflection on the relationship between the self and the minority, conversation with the specific minority, and a practical approach. Since this study was based on Benhavib’s concrete others perspective, it relied on the logic and approach of ethics and moral education. Therefore, it may be pointed out that more consideration should be given to the academic tendencies of morality and other social departments. However, it should be noted that cross-subjects are necessary to improve social and minority education.
