Abstract
This study was conducted to provide basic data for the development of a pilates movement instruction method based on kinematic theory and a new pilates movement by analyzing EMG values according to the active muscle part and pilates movement. The subjects of this study were 9 female pilates instructors, and muscle activity was measured on the left and right rectus abdominal muscles (up, Lo) and left and right oblique muscles in AB Prep, Hundred, and Oblique Pilates postures. Noraxon EMG system was used as the analysis equipment, and the collected data was analyzed using One-way ANOVA. The results of this study are follows. First, There was a statistically significant difference in both the Mean and Mean Peak values of the muscle activity (Mean, Mean Peak) according to the Pilates movement (p<.05). Second, the muscle activity (Mean, Mean Peak) values according to the Pilates exercise site showed statistically significant differences in both the Mean and Mean Peak values (p<.05). Third, as a result of examining the effect of the pilates movement motion and the exercise part, the mean value showed the effect according to the exercise motion and the exercise part (p<.05), but, there was no interaction between the two factors. However, in the mean peak value analysis result, the effect according to the motion and part could not be confirmed, but the interaction between the two factors appeared. In summary, there was a difference in muscle activity between the pilates motion and the exercise part, and it was found that the muscle activity according to the pilates motion and the exercise part had some interactions.
