Abstract
In this paper, we examine how the regional trade policy of Republic of Korea has evolved and developed through the Regional Trade Agreements (RTAs). Using text mining as a new research method, we analyze the similarity between the agreements by quantifying 18 RTA agreements signed by Korea after joining GATT. We address the following questions, (i) whether the similarity between RTA agreements signed by Korea increases over time, (ii) how the similarity differs depending on the economic characteristics of the other party, and (iii) which agreement(s), if any, can be called ‘template’ agreement(s).
