Abstract
The purpose of this study was to understand the process of the self-growth of counseling graduate students through group art therapy class. In doing so, in-depth interview was conducted of 12 counseling graduate students, their responses was analyzed based on the grounded theory approach. The results are followed: first, the "self-understanding through visualization of an inside" was found to be the core phenomenon. Secondly, the core categories of counseling graduate students' self-growth process are self-expanding through 'self-understanding through visualization of an inside'. The last, the therapeutic factors facilitating counseling graduate students' self-growth were 'feedback of support', 'universality', and 'safe therapy environment'. This study was intended to get suggestions on the direction of graduate school curriculum and therapeutic counseling to help them grow by understanding how counseling graduate students grow through group art therapy classes.
