Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the inconsistency of the judges in deciding taekwondo head point. This study defined the types of judges’ decision. Judges’ decision type 1 is when only one judge admitted the head point among the three judges. Judges’ decision type 2 is when the two judges admitted the head point among the three judges. Lastly, judges’ decision type 3 is when all the judges admitted the head point. This study was to confirm the consistency of judges’ decision through investigating the judges’ decision type 2 and judges’ decision type 3. In addition, by admitting the case of judges’ decision type 1 as a real ‘head point’, the study found out the changes in the game result. For this study, data on 7899 head point situation by referees's decision from 1441 games result(male : 1161 games, female:281 games) of the korea university taekwondo association's competition were used. By analyzing descriptive statistics, statistics through IBM SPSS 18.0 ver. The results presented that the consistency level of judges’ decision is very low(Judges’ decision type 3 showed 1 time(0.1%), judges’ decision type 2 showed 1776 times(22.5%), judges’ decision type 1 showed 6122 times(77.4%) out of 7899 times). and when the dmitting the case of judges’ decision type 1 as a real ‘head point’, 169 games(11.7%) are changed by out of 1442 games.
