Magnetic domain walls: from physics to devices

Abstract
Electrical manipulation of magnetic domain walls (DWs) offers a novel way to process and store information for computation. DW devices are thus considered as one of the emerging candidates for next-generation electronics. Here, we first review recent developments of DW devices with the focus on the technical challenges to realize nanoscale DW devices. We will show our development of a hybrid free layer concept which successfully tackles the integration challenges to achieve full electrical control of nanoscale DW devices. Finally, the prospective of device geometries for complex logic functionalities will be discussed.
