Abstract
Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communications play an important role in Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) by sharing information with each other to improve traffic safety and efficiency. A Lidar information based authentication scheme was proposed to authenticate vehicles locally without the involvement of a trusted authority and infrastructures. However, their scheme used the real identity of vehicles for communication which may lead to identity privacy threats. In this paper, we propose a Lidar information-based scheme using Elliptic Curve Cryptosystem (ECC). This new scheme generates anonymous identities or pseudonyms for each vehicle for communication.
