Abstract
Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) plays an important role in a Wide Area Management System (WAMS) for measuring the synchronized and accurate data such as frequency, current and voltage phasor of any system. However, the data quality and the communication techniques are the main concern for synchrophasor application. The communication of the synchrophasor data collected from Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) and the Phasor Data Concentrator (PDC) is called Synchrophasor Communication System (SPCS). In this paper, a comprehensive survey has been done on communication technologies which are used in a grid connected microgrid system, communication standards and applications.
