Abstract
To carry out the direct instantaneous torque control (DITC) for the switched reluctance machine (SRM) with the low-resolution rotor position sensor, a dynamic acquisition method for the torque characteristics is proposed. The complete flux-linkage characteristics of the SRM are calculated based on the measured data at four specific rotor positions, and the torque characteristics are obtained with the spatial derivative of the coenergy. Detailed simulation and experiment are conducted, and the performances of the DITC with the resolver and photoelectric position sensor are comprehensively compared. Furthermore, to reveal the major causes of performance degradation, the influences of the rotor position estimation and torque characteristics calculation with the photoelectric position sensor are separately evaluated. The presented method, analysis and results are significant for the implementation of the DITC for the SRM with low-resolution rotor position sensor widely exists in some fields, such as the household appliances.
