Abstract
photodetector are sensors that converts light signal into electrical signal. This paper concentrates on the working principle of photodetector and modal analysis of the detector. The simulation is carried out at visible wavelength, the effective index value obtained is 1.334371 and absorption loss is 2770 dB/cm at 900nm. The finite element modeling methodology is used. While selecting the photo detector, sensitivity, noise equivalent power, quantum efficiency and detectivity are very important parameters.
