Abstract
A diesel generator (DG) is used to offer stable electrical power to consumers in a micro-grid system. The parameters for a DG are set to allow for successful control, identification, stability analysis and accurate simulation for distributed energy resources (DER), which maintains power supply quality and reduces operational cost. There are many parameters that must be estimated for a DG. However, the parameter settings for a DG may vary as facilities age after running for a few days. Parameters for a DG must then be re-estimated to ensure accurate simulation in a micro-grid system. The proposed method uses a sensitivity analysis to classify parameters into three different types. A four-stage optimization method combined with a charged system search (CSS) algorithm is then used to estimate the parameter settings for a DG using actual measurement data. The proposed method is applied to a practical micro-grid system and the results show that the proposed method determines the optimal parameter settings for a DG that allows reliable and accurate simulation for a micro-grid system.
