Abstract
The aim of this paper is to propose a new approach for computing the average value of magnetic fields generated near railway lines, in order to respect the limits of human exposure to magnetic fields. After the introduction of the problem and the constraints, we present the techniques and numerical methods usually used. Then we describe the electrical characteristics of the studied line. Finally, we discuss the results obtained by our new approach based on the frequency antenna theory and solved by the method of moments (MoM) with the CDEGS software, in comparison with a classical approach based on the calculation of the conductors current and the Biot-Savart formula.
