Abstract
The 2017 Joint Conference of the IEEE International Frequency Control Symposium (IFCS) and European Frequency and Time Forum (EFTF) was held in Besançon, France, from July 10 to July 13. The Joint Conference is a biennial event combining the collective technical contributions of the IFCS/EFTF societies, which up until 1999 ran independent annual conferences. The Joint Conference of the IFCS and EFTF now collectively produces paper submissions of the highest technical quality and relevance to the time and frequency community, and in this Special Issue of the IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics, and Frequency Control, the Guest Editors have invited a selection of contributing authors to expand their Proceedings papers into articles to serve as a benchmark of our community’s 2017 achievements.
