Abstract
Global energy interconnection can be as modest as the electricity exchange and clean energy sharing among European countries, or as ambitious as the full integration of the power systems and markets across the continents worldwide. In Greece, several cross-border interconnections have already been commissioned, which are significantly contributed to the national security of supply and electricity market. In this paper, the Integrated Scenario-based Social-Economic Analysis (ISSEA) methodology is presented for social-economic analysis of the ongoing transnational interconnectors of Greece. Several technical and economic parameters are considered under the various specific scenarios developed for each project to evaluate the direct and indirect impact from both benefit and cost aspects. Analysis results show that the transnational interconnectors deliver significant benefits and contribute the economic development of related countries and regions.
