Abstract
One of the methods to heat up crude oil is using microwave. This paper discusses about the modeling and simulation of crude oil heating process by using microwave. Simulation was conducted using finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. In this modeling, heating propagation was presented in a two-dimensional form with a waveguide in rectangular form. The simulation used magnetron and it was operating at the frequency of 2.45 GHz. Reservoir model had dimension of 10 × 10 m 2 with dielectric constant of 4.09 and dielectric loss of 0.07. In this experiment, crude oil had dielectric constant of 2.8 and dielectric loss of 0.15. Simulation was conducted by means of Gaussian signal with time and position (coordinate) as the variation parameter. Simulation result showed that temperature distribution is in exponential form with amplification of 0.2262. Model validity was shown by cross correlation of 0.98 and absolute deviation of 0.45%.
