Abstract
This paper presents the fuzzy proportional - integral controller (FPIC) combined with a type of predictor (smith predictor). The proposed controller is used for controlling the speed of a DC motor through a communication network. It solves the problems of constant and random time-delays and data dropouts arising from networks in most the networked control systems (NCSs). Smith predictors inserted in a loop around the controller, which plays the role to produce future predicted outputs. The proposed controller has a higher capability of suppressing the problems of the NCS. The simulation results are established based on the Matlab/Simulink and the TrueTime toolbox. The simulation results show that the performance of the FPIC with smith predictor greatly improved over a wide range of networked time delay and data dropouts.
