Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the outage performance of three node, hybrid decode-amplify-forward (DAF) relayed optical wireless communication (OWC) system. The hybrid DAF relay amplifies/decodes the received signal depending upon the instantaneous signal to noise ratio of the source to the relay link and combines the merits of both conventional relaying schemes such as amplify and forward (AF) and decode and forward (DF). The optical links are modeled assuming independent but not necessarily identically distributed (i.n.i.d) Gamma-Gamma fading statistics under the combined effects of path loss, atmospheric turbulence and pointing errors. We derive the novel and exact analytical expression for the outage probability of the system and compare it with the conventional AF and DF relaying schemes.
