Abstract
The development of efficient inverters is crucial to provide a constant supply of energy limited by the intermittency of renewable sources generation in hybrid systems connected to the grid; while maintaining the power quality which is affected due to current harmonics and reactive power. This paper presents a control algorithm based on the theory of passivity that gives an inverter of a photovoltaic system additional functions: power factor correction and harmonic currents compensation, and additional ability to operate in absence of generation. The performance of the algorithm based on passivity is demonstrated by simulation using MATLAB/Simulink®.
