Abstract
Implantable hearing devices coupling with head natural vibrations is an open problem in biomechanics and acoustics. Computer models and experimental impact tests usually investigate spatial wave patterns and frequencies in relation to bone conduction. Here we propose a simulation study of the viscoelastic response of both a simplified and realistic head geometry modeling. The physical domain has been considered as a composite medium and it has been fine tuned on mechanical properties of bone and brain tissues. Elastic and viscoelastic displacement responses are discussed with respect to implantable hearing devices.
