Abstract
The emphasis of the traditional bridge design is on structural functions. However, as the development of the national transportation construction, the requirement of bridges are not only good structural functions, but also good figure and span arrangement. The design of a bridge (i.e. high pier and long span bridge, urban bridge) may need to be surveyed whether it has harmonious proportion and beautiful rhythm as soon as the program is completed. The harmony with the environment, the collocation of color and the visual effects of the ancillary facilities also should be checked up. In this paper, the technical feature, theories and the use method of three-dimensional interactive Virtual Reality Engineering System (VRE 2.1), which developed by ourselves, are introduced, and 3D bridge modeling technique, 3D romancing technique, 3D interactive modification technique, route real-time animated simulation technique, AutoCAD model joint technique, real-time material edition, as well as map and model management are discussed. And at last, the application of VRE 2.1 is demonstrated based on a practical engineering to carry out the multi-tiered design from biding, primary design, deep level design(cooperativeness with the environment, humanities and landscape) to running state for bridges.
