Abstract
The author presents a scenario for the development of broadband communications in the course of the next decade and shows how the scenario has been used by Ovum to project the size of the broadband communications market to the year 2000. Detailed market forecasts are included for the USA, UK, France, and Germany. The view which the model exemplifies is that, although broadband services will not displace narrowband voice communications as the main source of telco revenues by the year 2000, they will be a very significant source of growth for telcos before the end of the century.ETX
